About the role
We are seeking a qualified RN Unit Manager to lead our facility, ensuring high-quality patient care within a long-term care center, skilled nursing facility, or assisted living community. The Unit Manager oversees daily patient care, supervises and develops nursing staff, and serves as a dependable liaison between residents and their families. This role reports to the Director of Nursing and ensures the unit complies with federal and state regulatory standards, as well as company policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Assist in maintaining resident care standards by supervising and directing activities of subordinate nurses in quality assurance, infection control, and utilization review.
- Receive and transmit physicians' instructions regarding resident care to other units as needed.
- Oversee delegation of nursing and therapeutic procedures to other licensed professionals and paraprofessional associates.
- Conduct regular patient rounds to observe and assess residents’ physical conditions and behaviors.
- Evaluate the quality of care provided and ensure proper documentation of treatment and nursing observations.
- Plan and direct the department, coordinating with other departments to provide nursing services.
Requirements
- Current R.N. license by the State.
- At least two years of nursing experience, with one year of supervisory experience.
- Experience in long-term care or working with the geriatric population preferred.
- Clerical ability to read reports and utilize data accurately.
- Skill in organizing and planning programs and managing personnel.
- Ability to plan and direct the department while coordinating with other departments.
