Unit Desk Clerk - Days/Evenings - Advanced Acute Care Cardiac Telemetry Unit
Geisinger offers a full-time Unit Desk Clerk position with a minimum hiring rate of $16.24, increased rates for experienced individuals, and up to $3 shift differentials for evening, nights, and weekend shifts. Additionally, up to $40,000 in financial support is available to become a nurse.

Responsibilities
- Perform a wide range of clerical duties in a patient care environment.
- Participate in required patient safety education programs and activities to improve departmental and organizational safety.
- Assure appropriate bed assignment.
- Ensure timely notification of teletracking upon discharge.
- Perform clerical duties for admissions, transfers, discharges, and deaths according to standards.
- Transcribe and process orders according to unit standards.
- Release and confirm ordered tests to appropriate departments.
- Coordinate transportation of patients to multiple tests.
- Communicate patient-related information promptly to the appropriate care team member.
- Participate in obtaining and communicating electronic information pertinent to the nursing unit.
- Communicate with food services to ensure appropriate patient diets.
- Collaborate with other healthcare teams to facilitate multi-disciplinary patient care.
- Obtain and order supplies.
- File forms and reports according to standards.
- Maintain an organized patient care environment.
- Operate, troubleshoot, and take corrective measures for clerical equipment.
- Assist with transporting non-controlled medications to and from Pharmacy and within the unit as needed.
- Assist with transporting blood products to and from Blood Bank as needed.
- Assist the care team in the collection of necessary data or reports.
- Precept and mentor new staff in a professional, positive manner.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED) (Required).
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification - American Heart Association (AHA).

Schedule
- Full-time, 36 hours per week.
- 3 - 12 hour shifts (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM).
- Every other weekend and holiday rotation required.
