Unit Clerk - Tele/Stroke - Days

About the Role

Mercy Fitzgerald, a member of Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic, is seeking a Unit Coordinator to join the nursing team on the 4 Pavilion Medical/Surgical Unit. This part-time position works 24 hours per week on the Tele/Stroke unit with a day shift from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM, including every other weekend.

Responsibilities

• Offer assistance, handle inquiries, and supply information to physicians, visitors, patients, and hospital personnel in a courteous and professional manner.
• Organize work to maintain an efficient flow through the department.
• Answer the patient call system promptly and courteously, using the approved system for alerting staff of patient needs.
• Coordinate and process the admission, transfer, and discharge of patients efficiently.
• Enter departmental charges accurately and efficiently.
• Assist in the orientation and training of new Unit Secretaries.
• Demonstrate good organizational skills and work in an organized manner.
• Chart reports promptly (e.g., x-ray reports, EKG reports) and maintain charts with an adequate number of additional forms.
• Perform other unit-specific duties as delegated by the Nursing Unit Manager (e.g., payroll, refrigerator maintenance).
• Maintain policy and procedure manuals and the Medical Dental roster book.
• Update the daily physician on-call schedule for the department.

Requirements

• High School Graduate or equivalent required.
• Previous experience in a hospital or physician practice setting required.
• Computer literacy required.
• Familiarity with Medical Terminology desired.
• Good communication skills.
