UNIT CLERK/CNA, Acute Rehab - Full Time Days

About the Facility

Northwest Specialty Hospital, an extension of Northern Nevada Medical Center, brings expanded services to a new building located at 6225 Sharlands Ave. in Northwest Reno. The facility offers acute rehabilitation and adult behavioral health services.

• Acute rehabilitation services include occupational, speech, and physical therapy for adults recovering from stroke, injury, or another disabling condition. Conditions treated include stroke, brain injury, amputation, neurological disorders, major multiple traumas, and spinal cord and back injuries.
• All patients experience private rooms, access to a newly renovated therapy gym, and personalized care from qualified staff.
• Adult behavioral health services are an expansion of the current 50 and older program at NNMC, now serving all adults 18 years and older. The department is managed by a multidisciplinary team including physicians, nurses, CNAs, social workers, and therapists. Patients receive individualized care plans, including individual and family therapy, activities, medication management, and a 24-hour secure, compassionate environment.

About the Role

This full-time Unit Clerk/CNA opportunity offers benefits and a convenient day shift schedule. We are looking for a dynamic Unit Clerk/CNA to provide indirect care in the department setting.

Responsibilities

• Completes bedside shift report in the room at the beginning and end of each shift.
• Ensures patient is provided with the names and contact numbers for members of the care team on the communication board every shift.
• Meets with Supervising RN at the beginning of each shift to receive delegation of tasks.
• Follows facility policies and procedures to promote patient safety (e.g., safe environment, equipment safety practices, radiation safety, fire prevention).
• Adheres to fall precautions by performing/assisting patients with toileting/ADL care and never leaving the patient alone. If assistance is needed, the CNA is able to ask/call for help while remaining with the patient.
• Answers phones and assists with patient discharges.
• Meets communication needs of the department.
• Transcribes physician orders from records with notation and signatures by nursing staff.
• Prepares and compiles records in the department.
• Maintains regulatory body requirements, policies and procedures, and participates in performance improvement activities.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited C.N.A program.
• Current Nevada C.N.A. license.
• BLS Certification required.
• One year full-time or three years part-time experience in an acute care setting preferred.
• Monitor Tech experience preferred.
