Union Shipping Staff (Sun-Wed)

About the Role

The DC Shipping Employee ensures that all outbound shipments are processed accurately and within predetermined time frames. This role involves loading and unloading trucks both manually and using material handling equipment.

Responsibilities

• Ensure use of standard operating procedures to maintain inventory accuracy.
• Produce correct shipping labels and sort outbound boxes based on shipping method using approved processes for store and ecommerce cartons.
• Operate a hand-held radio-frequency (RF) scanner to process merchandise.
• Assemble boxes as needed.
• Communicate effectively with peers and supervision.
• Assist in maintaining proper stock levels and product locations for effective picking.
• Record and report any damaged products or merchandise to the designated supervisor.
• Package merchandise for customer orders, including quality inspection and order accuracy audits.
• Process merchandise using a wireless RF scanner.
• Accurately perform procedures using company computer systems.
• Assist in loading and unloading goods.
• Operate material handling equipment safely and efficiently to meet productivity standards.
• Handle all merchandise carefully to avoid damage, bending, or tearing.
• Utilize proper techniques for processing, picking, packing, pushing/pulling, and lifting.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and productive work environment.
• Contribute to a positive team spirit and support company goals.
• Promote safe work practices and report maintenance or safety issues requiring corrective action.
• Assist in other areas of the distribution center as needed.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to meet deadlines and productivity standards.
• Good attendance and punctuality record.

• Good math, counting, and problem-solving skills.
• Customer service-oriented with strong verbal communication skills.
• Ability to understand spoken and written English to perform job functions.

• Working knowledge of warehouse technology, including RF scanners, is a plus.
• Previous warehouse, distribution, or production experience is helpful.
• Basic computer skills (Excel, Word, Outlook) are helpful.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Authorized to work for any employer in the United States.

Skills

• Ability to work in a warehouse environment with physical demands including continuous standing, walking, and frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds or more.
• Ability to use handling equipment such as sorter systems, conveyors, RF guns, metal hooks, plastic bags, packaging materials, tape dispensers, and cardboard boxes.
• Dependable team player with flexibility in scheduling based on business needs (e.g., increased hours, weekends, holidays, or staffing shortages).

Schedule

Sun.–Wed. or Wed.–Sat.: 7:00 a.m.–5:30 p.m. Days and hours may fluctuate due to workload. Must be able to work weekends and overtime when necessary.

Pay

The rate for this position is $16 per hour, depending on merit, length of service, skills, background, and experience.
