About the role

As a CBRE Union Building Engineer, you will monitor, maintain, and repair building system operations and performance in areas including plumbing, electrical, painting, roofing, heating, and cooling. This role is part of the Engineering and Technical Services job function and is onsite at the all-new HELIX facility in New Brunswick, NJ, USA.

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance and repairs to mechanical, plumbing, structural, furniture, fire, life safety, and control systems.
  • Keep facility and building systems up to applicable standards.
  • Comply with all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency, and company directives related to building operations and work safety.
  • Maintain an energy management program to ensure all systems operate efficiently.
  • Assist with implementing a preventive maintenance program to extend the life of building machinery and systems.
  • Perform emergency repairs as needed.
  • Follow departmental policies for safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials.
  • Maintain a clean and safe workplace.
  • Review inspections of building systems, including fire alarms, HVAC, and plumbing, to ensure equipment operates within design capabilities.
  • Apply in-depth knowledge of standard principles and techniques to accomplish complex assignments and provide innovative solutions.
  • Coach others and share knowledge of your job discipline while building consensus and explaining difficult or sensitive information.
  • Lead by example and model behaviors consistent with CBRE RISE values.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED, or trade school diploma with 4-5 years of job-related experience. In lieu of a diploma, a combination of experience and education will be considered.
  • Universal CFC certification is preferred.
  • Certifications/licenses as required by local or state jurisdictions.
  • Prior shift management or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Membership in Local 68 Union is required.
  • Meet physical requirements, including stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, and lifting/carrying heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more.
  • Ability to exercise judgment based on analysis of multiple sources of information.
  • Willingness to take a new perspective on existing solutions.
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
  • Organizational skills with an advanced inquisitive mindset.
  • Sophisticated math skills, including calculating percentages, fractions, and financial-related figures.

Pay

The negotiated rate for the Union Building Engineer position is $76,960.00 annually (or $37.00 per hour), as subject to the applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement.
