Responsibilities
- Select, clean, and install reinforcing rods as directed by journeymen
- Load, transport, unload, and furnish workers with materials, tools, and equipment
- Clean work area and restock supplies and materials; perform minor maintenance or cleaning of journeymen’s tools and equipment
- Assist in lifting, positioning, and securing materials and work pieces during installation
- Bend steel rods with hand tools or rod-bending machine; supply wire mesh to journeymen
- Measure and mark layout for installation
- Weld brackets to lintels, sills, columns, and other structural framework
- Drill holes in metal, concrete, and masonry structures using portable power drills, air-hammer, and/or hand tools
- Cut, miter, and bevel metal trim and cover plates to size
- Bolt, clip, weld, or solder ironwork together and to brackets or anchors
- Verify level and plumbness
- Bolt newel posts, balusters, and other parts of stairways and stair rails to support
- Fasten cover plates and mold in place with metal screws
- Receive and offload all major components; install loose components for nacelle, hub, and tower preparation
- Connect blades to hub; set base and tower sections; manage taglines; assist with main erection crane assembly and teardown
- Climb ladders – average 80m
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Enrolled in Apprenticeship Aptitude Program
- Current driver’s license
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety regulations, operation and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Understand and apply basic mathematical skills (adding, subtracting, division, & multiplication)
- Strong teamwork orientation; positive attitude and professional customer service skills; detail orientation; active listening skills and effective communication, including an openness to diverse input and feedback
- Repetitive hand, arm, leg movements
- Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling: up to 50 lbs.

Pay
The base pay range for this role is $25.93 - $49.26 per hour. (Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL – 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR – 10%, Washington, D.C. – 12.5%). Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity.
