As a CBRE Union Apprentice Engineer, you will perform preventive maintenance and corrective repair of buildings, industrial systems, and equipment. Under the direction of the Chief or Assistant Chief, you will engage in activities related to design, construction, modification, and maintenance of equipment and machinery. This role provides functional assistance to journeyperson stationary engineers under an established indentured apprenticeship program.
Responsibilities
- Assist and execute assigned maintenance functions and activities under direct tutelage, performing functional activities and minor repairs.
- Attend classroom instruction and complete studies as required by the joint apprenticeship program.
- Comply with all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agencies, and company directives.
- Inspect building systems including fire alarms, HVAC, and plumbing.
- Oversee outside contractors performing landscaping, snow removal, remodeling, HVAC, plumbing, and cleaning.
- Perform and record assigned repairs as well as emergency and preventive maintenance.
- Review, evaluate, and complete assigned work orders.
- Maintain the building lighting system, including element and ballast repairs or replacements.
- Perform welding, carpentry, furniture assembly, and locksmith tasks.
- Use existing procedures to solve straightforward problems with limited discretion.
Requirements
- High School Diploma, GED, or trade school diploma with 1-2 years of job-related experience. In lieu of a diploma, a combination of experience and education will be considered.
- Successfully passed the Engineer Apprenticeship Examination within the last 2 years with a score of 72 or higher.
- Valid California driver's license.
- Experience using a digital multimeter to measure AC and DC voltage, amperage, and resistance.
- Meet physical requirements including stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, and the ability to lift/carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more.
- Ability to follow basic work routines and standards.
- Communication skills to exchange straightforward information.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
- Strong organizational skills with an inquisitive mindset.

Pay
The negotiated rate for the Union Apprentice Engineer position is $98,592 annually (or $47.40 per hour), as per the applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement.
