About the role

The Enterprise Unified Communications (UC) Solutions Architect will be a key participant in the implementation of all new UC systems and technologies, ensuring these implementations are completed, documented, tested, and integrated into UC enterprise services. This position will stay abreast of organizational business changes, projected modernizations and upgrades, and technology trends to recommend the most current and effective technology improvements and evolutions to Enterprise UC systems. As the Tier 3 Expert, this role designs, implements, and operates Enterprise Unified Communications core infrastructure technologies and equipment. The position provides oversight of global operations, maintenance, and continuous improvement of Unified Communication services on a fast-paced U.S. government contract, focusing on delivering a high-quality customer and end-user experience.

Responsibilities

  • Drive process improvement, deliver efficiency, and provide specifications of existing UC architecture to which solutions are defined, managed, and delivered.
  • Lead hands-on experience with Unified Communication Audio, Video technologies, and Cisco Networking technologies.
  • Lead the planning, securing, and forecasting of Enterprise UC initiatives globally.
  • Architect, implement, and operate new UC solutions and technologies into the enterprise, ensuring a highly available and mission-critical collaborative environment.
  • Define and create well-organized, reliable UC system architectures that promote ease of maintenance.
  • Lead the integration and interoperability of UC with multiple applications and platforms.
  • Provide support and assistance in UC fault isolation and performance management processes.
  • Design and implement monitoring and reporting to expose quality metrics, measure performance, and support continuous improvement decisions for Enterprise UC services.
  • Provide real-time assistance to UC Multimedia Operations staff and troubleshooting efforts.
  • Liaise with internal and external technical resources to define optimum solutions to quality challenges.
  • Maintain and update skillset related to emerging UC technology trends and future-focused collaborative environments.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive technical artifacts pertaining to the design, standards, implementation, assessment, and analysis of Enterprise UC services.
  • Provide training, webinars, and whitepapers to customers as needed.
  • Communicate proactively and effectively with customers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related field and 12 years of related experience, or a Master’s degree in the same fields and 10 years of related experience.
  • 7+ years of experience working with Cisco Emergency Responder (CER), Cisco Unity Connection (CUC), Cisco Presence Server (IM&P), and Cisco Unified Contact Center Enterprise (UCCE).
  • 5+ years leading UC technology initiatives in global enterprises.
  • Extensive experience with UC solutions from Polycom, Cisco, and Avaya.
  • Skillset equivalence to Cisco CCNP Collaboration with a focus on Design and Planning.
  • Experience in routing protocols, addressing, services virtualization, and integration/collaboration strategies for enterprise architectures.
  • Expert knowledge in UC and its operation within a collaborative environment over switching, routing, firewall, load balancers, cloud, MPLS, SD-WAN, QoS, and WAN technologies, with the ability to document using Visio and office tools.
  • Experience with architecting, delivering, and troubleshooting UC technologies such as telephony/voicemail, QFlow, video streaming, video teleconferencing, enterprise web conferencing, enterprise PBX platforms, SIP Trunking, Call Recording, Instant Messaging, Chat and Presence, digital signage, EFax, Space Management Reservation System, and call center solutions.
  • Experience working in an ITIL v3 or v4 framework to deliver enterprise services.
  • Experience with Agile/DevOps processes.
  • Familiarity with NIST security guidelines (e.g., 800-53, 800-63) and a good understanding of security fundamentals, including authentication with OAuth, SAML, etc.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to represent the team in briefings and presentations.
  • Effective time management skills, ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, multitask, plan, organize, and prioritize work assignments with attention to detail.

Qualifications

  • Certifications: CCIE (desired, not required), CCNP Collaboration on Telepresence/Video.
  • Hands-on experience with products: Cisco CUCM, CMM, CMS, TMS, Expressway, Webex; Microsoft Teams.

Desired Experience

  • US Citizen with DHS Public Trust suitability clearance/EOD.
  • Experience with any DHS agencies or entities.
  • Experience using ServiceNow in a Tier 1 - 4 support role.

Schedule

  • Onsite 5 days/week at USCIS HQ office in Camp Springs, Maryland.
  • Scheduled weekly hours: 40.
  • Travel required: Less than 10%, primarily local in the DC metro area, with potential expansion to national and overseas locations.

Pay

The likely salary range for this position is $107,744 - $126,500. Salary will be set based on experience, geographic location, and possibly contractual requirements.
