Underwriting Trainee
About the role
ABA Insurance Services Inc., a division of Great American Insurance Group, is a market-leading provider of professional liability, bond, and property & casualty coverage for financial institutions, as well as EPLI and cyber for small businesses and D&O for nonprofit organizations. This Underwriting Trainee position is based in the Shaker Heights, OH office.

Responsibilities
- Evaluate and analyze insurance submissions to identify exposures, assess risk, and support underwriting decisions.
- Prepare quotes, renewals, endorsements, and other underwriting transactions while maintaining quality and service standards.
- Collaborate with agents, brokers, and internal partners to gather information and provide underwriting guidance.
- Develop expertise in underwriting guidelines, coverage forms, pricing methodology, and risk selection.
- Utilize data, technology, and underwriting tools to support decision-making and portfolio management.
- Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with underwriting, regulatory, and company requirements.
- Support profitable growth through strong customer relationships and responsive service.
- Participate in training, continuous improvement initiatives, and special projects.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Risk Management and Insurance, or a related field or equivalent experience.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
