Underwriting Technician

POSITION SUMMARY:The Underwriting Technician handles external and internal client inquiries and provides support to underwriters with the new business, endorsement, and renewal processes. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:New BusinessReviews and issues submissions and refers submissions beyond authority level to underwriterRequests pertinent underwriting file documents and follows up with agents and insuredsFollows new business processing timeframesEndorsements and RenewalsAssists underwriters in processing endorsements and renewals within established timeframesRequests pertinent underwriting file documents and renewal information and follows up with agents and insuredsCustomer service for policyholders and agentsWarmly and sincerely receives incoming phone and e-mail inquiriesDocuments and researches all requestsCoordinates with underwriters to update policyholder status and initiate policy changesFollows up with all parties to provide timely, accurate resolutionStrives to resolve requests the day receivedGeneral dutiesIndexes incoming mail through ImageRightSupports the application set-up processAccurately maintains policyholder information and documents policyholder communicationContributes to departmental initiatives and projectsQUALIFICATIONS:College degree preferred; will consider a combination of education and related experienceFive years of related experienceMicrosoft Office Suite proficiency with emphasis on Word, Excel, and PowerPointExperience with PAC, ImageRight, or similar policy administration software a plusCOMPETENCIES:Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively with insureds, agents, underwriters, and managementSolid listening skills, a professional and courteous manner, and the ability to build strong working relationships across the organizationStrong organizational skills, with the ability to independently manage priorities, meet deadlines, and work well under pressureCreative problem-solver who responds quickly to requests and easily adapts to shifting priorities and company needsCollaborative team player committed to achieving organizational and departmental goals PHYSICAL DEMANDS:Occasionally (several times a week) lifts, carries, or otherwise moves and positions objects weighing up to 10 pounds while fulfilling responsibilitiesFrequently sits for long periods of time WORK ENVIRONMENT:Performs work in an office environment (hybrid opportunity at manager's discretion) Salary: $50,000 to $65,000Benefits:Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance401(k)Short and Long-term disabilityLife InsuranceEmployee Assistance ProgramFree onsite fitness center membershipLong-term incentive planEducational Assistance and rewards programPaid Time OffPaid HolidaysPaid parental leave
