About the role

This role is your opportunity to drive profitable growth in M&A Tax Underwriting by working on creative solutions for complex risks. You will be responsible for underwriting tax business, using your proven relationship building skills. You will work closely with brokers to communicate risk appetite and our value proposition, understand deal structures, terms and products that best meet clients' needs, negotiate pricing, terms & conditions, and deal structure with brokers and clients. You will expand your broker network, attend broker events, and build new relationships across the market. You will collaborate with AIG Distribution, territory managers, and underwriters in other business lines to target desirable accounts and cross-selling opportunities. You will set a high standard of customer service to brokers and clients, provide guidance, mentoring, and training to less-experienced underwriters, and support them in building their broker network.

Responsibilities

  • Set a high standard of customer service to brokers and clients
  • Provide guidance, mentoring, and training to less-experienced underwriters
  • Support less-experienced underwriters in building their broker network

Requirements

  • Proven underwriting experience, with good knowledge of M&A Tax Underwriting
  • Experience in a tax advisory or tax analysis capacity at a law firm, public accounting firm, or in-house
  • J.D. and/or LL.M. is a plus
  • Strong communication, networking, and relationship building skills
  • Ability to analyze a broad variety of tax issues for corporations, partnerships, and individuals, including domestic and cross-border transactions, complex tax structures, and operational tax issues
  • Extremely proficient in understanding complex tax structures, including those relating to M&A transactions and tax credit arrangements
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Customer and sales-oriented behaviors: motivated, tenacious, focused, technically skilled, proactive, and accountable

Qualifications

  • High competency in understanding complex tax structures, including those relating to M&A transactions and tax credit arrangements
  • Extremely proficient in drafting of legal and commercial documents; ability to negotiate with commercially and legally sophisticated advisors and clients
  • An interest in mentoring and training if you have not held these duties previously

Benefits

  • Base salary range: $240,000 - $290,000
  • Eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan
