Underwriting Counsel

For our client, we are seeking a Underwriting Counsel to join the team of a leader in the Real Estate & Construction space. This role will provide business-aligned guidance focused on governance, compliance, and operational risk management. You will partner with leaders, compliance stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to translate complex issues into practical recommendations. The position offers the opportunity to strengthen responsible execution, improve decision-making, and support sustainable growth within a Real Estate & Construction environment. Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available Compensation: $130,588 – $217,647 annually Responsibilities Review and analyze title searches, surveys, and risk factors for title insurance Evaluate business risks to determine acceptability Provide support to agents and attorneys with accurate policy issuance Explain underwriting requirements and risk considerations clearly to customers Serve as a subject-matter expert on title insurance laws in Rhode Island Determine premiums and conditions based on established rules and guidelines Complete additional assigned duties as needed Qualifications Juris Doctor (JD) required Admission to Rhode Island Bar mandatory 2+ years of relevant work experience preferred Strong analytical and risk assessment skills Excellent verbal and written communication abilities Benefits Various health and wellness insurance options Paid time off 401(k) plan with company match Employee stock purchase program Employee discounts Our client is an equal opportunity employer.
