Underwriter Trainee/Underwriter, phD, North American Healthcare Division
Job Summary
The Underwriter Trainee is an entry level role aimed at learning underwriting skills and account management responsibilities, including direct communication with the broker community.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform account analysis according to Allied World guidelines
- Develop account pricing/structure/make recommendations
- Prepare quotes, binders, underwriting worksheets within company guidelines
- Maintain files in an orderly manner consistent with company guidelines
- Attend client meetings, lunches, dinners, and other outings as applicable
- Market to brokers within assigned region and engage in production meetings
- Work with legal department for manuscript wording analysis and preparation as needed
- Interact with senior management on referral items
Qualifications
- University/Undergraduate degree required
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
- 0-3 years of experience in underwriting
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
- Excellent communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
- Strong attention to detail and quantitative skills
- Able to work to deadlines and prioritize tasks
- Willingness to travel for client meetings and broker visits throughout the assigned region
Pay
The salary range for this role is between: $70,000 - $100,000
