About the role

As a Mortgage Underwriter IV, you'll underwrite Government and Conventional loans by reviewing the credit, capacity, and collateral characteristics of loan files to ensure they meet company and investor quality standards. You'll review and clear underwriting conditions on Conventional and Government loans in compliance with current guidelines and overlays, performing the role across organization channels (Delegated, Non-Delegated, Retail).

Responsibilities

  • Manage individual pipeline daily by completing Underwriting Reviews, appraisal reviews, and conditions reviews within defined turn times.
  • Identify document deficiencies, add applicable conditions, and request additional information or documentation from customers as needed.
  • Provide updates and clarification on outstanding conditions and deficiencies to customers per established processes.
  • Assist others in the department in interpreting underwriting guidelines and updating underwriting status and conditions to customers.
  • Perform independent research of guidelines and overlays while reviewing loans.
  • Underwrite loans across all channels (Delegated, Non-Delegated, Retail).

Requirements

  • 8+ years of related experience in the Mortgage Industry, Residential Mortgage Loan underwriting, or a similar field.
  • High school diploma required.
  • Advanced knowledge of the residential mortgage industry in Correspondent or Retail Lending, including sales, operations, and other residential mortgage products and services.
  • Advanced knowledge of applicable regulatory and legal compliance obligations, rules, regulations, industry standards, and practices.
  • Advanced knowledge of FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, VA, and USDA Guidelines.
  • Intermediate knowledge of MS Office products and Encompass.
  • Advanced speaking and writing communication skills.
  • DE or SAR certification required.

Pay

Hourly range for new hires is generally $45.54 for Nevada. Salary amount is determined by specific job location.
