Underwriter II - Small Business Unit
Summary
Evaluates property & casualty insurance applications to determine the risk involved, decides to accept or reject the application; determines appropriate premium. A typical day will include assisting in the determination of the acceptability, conditions and pricing of specific property & casualty insurance risks and associated coverage, maintaining familiarity with the products, services, priorities and target markets in the property & casualty line of business or insurance segment, maintaining familiarity with the loss experience and business conditions of key accounts as well as loss trends and any major legal or economic factors affecting the property & casualty line of business, communicating effectively with colleagues in underwriting and all support areas in order to meet the property & casualty insurance needs of customers, accompanying senior underwriter or marketing representative on appointments in assigned and industry events, assisting in the training and development of coworkers as directed by management, and developing and maintaining relationships with agency representatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent is preferred, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Minimum of 1-4 years of commercial package underwriting experience required.
