Underwriter Assistant - St. Petersburg, FL

About the role

An Underwriter Assistant provides support to an Underwriter by reviewing applications, evaluating risk, creating quotes, and processing new and renewal business. This position offers exposure to risk analysis, relationship building, and direct mentorship from experienced underwriters. No prior insurance experience is required; Bass Underwriters will supply the tools and guidance needed for success.

Responsibilities

• Review applications
• Evaluate risks
• Research carrier guidelines
• Interface with agents and insurance carriers
• Process and service new and renewal business
• Network with current agents to cultivate relationships and seek new opportunities

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Risk Management & Insurance, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
• Strong customer orientation with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Strong problem‑analysis and resolution abilities
• Ability to prioritize and respond to complex issues
• Detail‑oriented and capable of multitasking
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and comfortable navigating various websites and databases
• Highly motivated, positive, outgoing personality with an entrepreneurial spirit and service mentality
• Comfortable working in a fast‑paced environment

Pay

Salary starting at $54,000 per year plus bonus opportunities.
