About the Role

An established engineering consulting firm in the power delivery industry is seeking an Underground Transmission Designer to support the design and execution of high-voltage underground transmission and distribution projects. This individual will work alongside engineering teams to develop design packages and technical drawings for critical energy infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare engineering drawings and deliverables using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and related design software.
  • Support the design of underground transmission and distribution projects under the guidance of engineering staff.
  • Collaborate with engineers and project teams to develop accurate, high-quality design packages.
  • Review and self-check work to ensure accuracy, quality, and compliance with project requirements.
  • Maintain project schedules and deliver work in accordance with client and industry standards.
  • Assist with technical problem-solving and development of practical design solutions.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders and support project documentation and communication efforts.
  • Manage multiple assignments while maintaining flexibility in a dynamic project environment.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree, technical degree, or equivalent experience in drafting, engineering technology, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or similar design platforms in the electric utility industry.
  • Experience supporting underground high-voltage transmission and/or distribution projects.
  • Knowledge of utility design standards and industry best practices.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology or a related discipline.
  • Completion of an AutoCAD drafting program.
  • Experience with MicroStation or similar design software.
