Principal Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform terminations, T-body connections, inline splices, URD splices, and metal shield splices on medium voltage cable
- Work with 3M splice kits, Cooper T-bodies, and other industry-standard termination products
- Install, pull, and terminate underground cable in accordance with project specifications
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and cable schedules
- Safely operate equipment such as trenchers, plows, and cable pulling equipment
- Auxiliary tasks include excavation, conduit installation, and installation of electrical equipment
- Collaborate with crew leads and project superintendents to meet daily production goals
- Comply with all OSHA requirements and Valley Corporation safety procedures at all times
- Install protective cover-up on energized equipment and assist with switching activities as needed
Qualifications
- Experience working with medium voltage cable systems, terminations, and splicing
- Familiarity with industry-standard materials such as 3M and Cooper products
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and electrical diagrams
- Experience operating underground construction equipment (trencher, plow, etc.)
- Strong understanding of jobsite safety practices and OSHA standards
- Physical stamina to perform physically demanding tasks outdoors
- Positive attitude and ability to work effectively as part of a team
Preferences (Not Required)
- Experience in underground utility construction or electrical distribution
- Prior experience assisting with switching or working around energized systems
