Underground Miner - Grader Operator

About the role

The Underground Miner - Grader Operator reports to the Underground Shift Supervisor. The primary role is to safely and efficiently operate graders and perform various mining tasks. Duties may include operating haul trucks, nippers, mucking, powder crew, and rock picking. Responsibilities vary and include:

• Operating graders in an underground setting
• Minimizing equipment downtime and maximizing productivity
• General laboring and housekeeping of the work area
• Ensuring tools and equipment are serviceable and safe
• Clear communication via two-way radio
• Adhering to safety policies and MSHA requirements, including hazard identification, pre-start checks, meetings, and incident reporting
• Assisting with fault finding and preventative maintenance
• Assessing and monitoring ground conditions
• Conducting scaling as per site requirements
• Performing other duties as directed by the Shift Supervisor

Requirements

• 2 years of experience operating graders in an underground environment (required)
• Experience operating a loader in an underground environment
• Basic mechanical knowledge
• Good communication skills, including proficiency in English (reading and speaking)
• Basic computer literacy
• Flexibility to adapt to improved procedures and practices
• Ability to provide leadership and training to new team members (preferred but not essential)
• Strong understanding of safe operating procedures, safety rules, policies, emergency procedures, and MSHA requirements
• Must pass a post-offer physical, drug test, and background check

Schedule

• 4 weeks on, 2 weeks off rotational schedule (days and nights)
• Up to 12-hour shifts or more at a remote campsite
• Extreme working conditions, including changing weather, dust, mud, varying noise levels, and confined spaces with artificial lighting
• Mandatory on-site stay at company-provided camp during work rotation
