About the role

This position requires the ability to perform all types of general underground mining as well as applicable surface mining activities.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy machinery
• Perform work requiring lifting up to 100 pounds, lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, and climbing and working at heights up to 100 feet
• Communicate effectively by talking, hearing, and using hands and fingers to manipulate objects or controls
• Utilize vision abilities (with correction) including close, distance, peripheral, depth, and the ability to adjust focus
• Work in all weather conditions
• Wear appropriate and required underground Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
• Comply with all state and federal mining regulations
• Receive oral or written instructions from Supervisor and effectively utilize required materials and equipment
• Maintain a safe working area through effective methods of work area inspections and safe work practices, including inspection, mechanical and hand scaling, and work area clean-up
• Operate multiple pieces of powered mining equipment such as rock drills, bolters, loaders, haulers, scalers, and pumps safely and effectively
• Clean, adjust, and maintain equipment using hand tools as needed
• Use shovels, cutters, scaling bars, and other hand tools proficiently as part of the mining process
• Identify, maintain, and (if applicable) repair minor/general maintenance on underground equipment
• Perform other duties as assigned
