About the Role

This approximately 13-week remote (or onsite at either New Albany, Ohio; Holly Springs, North Carolina; South San Francisco, California; or Thousand Oaks, California) internship program offers meaningful project and operational experiences with the world's leading biotechnology company. During this program, you will work closely with a team of Amgen's Engineers that support one of the following areas: Engineering Technical Authority, Global Capital Project Management, Project Controls and Strategy, Engineering Operations Services, or Environment, Health & Safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with project design teams and subject-matter experts to support engineering project development, plans, standards, equipment selection, and technical documentation.
  • Support engineering assessments, technical feasibility evaluations, lifecycle impact assessments, cost analyses, and project business cases.
  • Research project scopes, construction and engineering processes, and emerging technologies to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Support the development and implementation of strategic Engineering projects, including capital planning and project controls activities.
  • Help develop, test, or improve digital, automation, data, or AI-enabled tools that streamline business processes and advance operational efficiency.
  • Contribute to safety, health, and environmental initiatives that improve compliance, reduce operational risk, and support workforce well-being.
  • Communicate findings, recommendations, and project updates to Engineering and cross-functional stakeholders.

Program Eligibility Requirements

  • Expected completion of one year of study from an accredited college or university prior to the internship commencing
  • Expected continued enrollment in an accredited college or university following the internship program
  • Student must be located in the United States for the duration of the internship program
  • Must be available to work a full-time schedule

Basic Qualifications

  • 18 years or older
  • Currently enrolled in a full-time Bachelor's Degree program from an accredited college or university with a 3.0 minimum GPA or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree concentration(s) in one of the following areas:
    • Engineering, project delivery, or construction: Chemical, Mechanical, Biomedical, Electrical, Industrial, Civil, Construction, Environmental, or Systems Engineering; Construction Management; Architecture; Design and Drafting Technology; or Engineering Technology
    • Digital, data, and AI: Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Information Systems, Analytics, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related technical field
    • Environment, health, and safety: Environmental or Occupational Health, Environmental Science, Public Health, Toxicology, Nursing, Biomechanics/Ergonomics, or a related field
  • Interest in applying engineering principles, data, AI, automation, and continuous-improvement methods to support project justification, design, development, capital planning, safety, or operational excellence
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and PowerPoint
  • Exposure to data analysis, visualization, Python, SQL, Power BI, BIM/Revit, automation, or generative AI tools are preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage time effectively, work independently when needed, and collaborate in a matrixed environment
  • Demonstrated curiosity, initiative, and ability to translate technical information into clear recommendations

Pay

The base pay range for this opportunity in the U.S. is $28.87 per hour.
