The Unclaimed Property Consulting Senior Associate will focus on audit defense, voluntary disclosure agreements (VDAs), and detailed risk assessments to bring holders into full compliance with state reporting obligations. We work closely with clients to identify historical gaps, remediate exposures, and implement practical, long-term processes for ongoing compliance. Preference will be given to candidates located near our Nashville, Indianapolis, or Denver offices, but remote work is available for the right candidate.
Responsibilities
- Assist companies with multi-state unclaimed property matters including assessments, audit defense, or voluntary disclosure agreement processes.
- Prepare companies for examinations by describing forthcoming requests and explaining the process.
- Represent clients in auditor discussions regarding the current status of examinations and responses to information document requests.
- Track client requests and submissions and assist with record review (e.g., tax documents, accounting records, policies and procedures).
- Perform data analysis to identify potential unclaimed property risks.
- Develop and present strategies to mitigate potential unclaimed property exposure.
- Aid in drafting final deliverables and reports for client and state submission.
- Willing to travel up to 30%.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of unclaimed property professional expertise (prior consulting experience preferred).
- Proven experience related to unclaimed property consulting engagements, including audit defense, voluntary disclosure agreement programs, policy and procedures, or similar services.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- High-quality verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to consistently produce high-quality, professional deliverables on schedule and budget.
- Self-motivated with excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated understanding of complex unclaimed property concepts.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel.
- Able to adapt to new environments, work effectively in varied situations, and function in changing circumstances with minimal disruption.
Qualifications
- BA/BS with a concentration in accounting, business administration, finance, engineering, or information systems (or similar degrees).
