About the role

The UN Seasonal Leaf Sweep Driver is responsible for servicing assigned route(s) for sweeping and clearing the pathways. The driver represents the company in a safe and respectable manner while servicing customer accounts dispatched to him/her throughout the day and communicating regularly with dispatchers and supervisors. The season runs from April to mid-December; no work is scheduled January through March.

Schedule

• April – September: Monday - Friday with some Saturdays
• October – December: Monday - Saturday, as needed

Hours or Saturdays may fluctuate depending on the volume of work.

Responsibilities

• Operate truck in a safe manner in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and company policies
• Sweep streets, parking lots, alleys to meet or exceed the company’s standards for service
• Complete assigned routes
• Communicate with dispatch as route changes or issues arise
• Maintain and update route sheets
• Conduct pre-trip/post-trip vehicle inspections
• Maintain and update drivers log sheets
• Professional interaction with internal and external customers
• Keep truck clean and operating properly within driver’s ability
• Use a smartphone and apps
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Ability to read and understand a map
• Ability to perform physical requirements of the job (prolonged physical exertions)
• Ability to work overtime, weekends, and/or holidays
• Good written and verbal communication skills to communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external customers
• Previous CDL truck driving experience preferred
• Waste industry experience, a plus
• Legally eligible to work in the United States
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Must have at least a valid Class B CDL
• Must have a valid DOT medical card or obtain prior to hire
• Must not have any DUI’s or OVI's within the last 5 years or 2 in the last 10 years
• Must not have any license suspensions within the last 2 years
• No more than 3 moving violations within the last 2 years
• Must successfully complete pre-employment testing
• Must be able to read and speak the English language well enough to communicate, understand, and respond to questions, directions, traffic signs, signals, and safety training
• No experience needed; we will train

Physical Demands / Environmental Factors

• Regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear
• Occasionally required to stand and walk
• Repetitive lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing up to 40 lbs
• Ability to work in all weather conditions
• Exposure to residential and commercial waste
• Possible exposure to high traffic conditions while outside of the vehicle
• Frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus

Pay

$30.80 - $44 per hour
