Ultrasound Technologist, Nashoba Valley, 32 hr, Days (Float)

Major Responsibilities

• Properly performs all ultrasound techniques and examinations, consistent with the age of the patient, in in-patient or outpatient settings, in compliance with departmental and professional standards and protocols.
• Gather pertinent clinical data and maintains accurate patient records.
• Accurately completes all records, paperwork, and billings and submits promptly.
• Positions and transfers patients appropriately and assists physicians with interventional exams.
• Promptly and properly completes exams, performs QC to images and send exams to PACS for review by the radiologist.
• Affords assistance in ultrasound guided interventional procedures.
• Follows Universal protocol in accordance with hospital policy and procedure.
• Affords assistance in maintaining an orderly inventory and in arranging the purchase of needed supplies.
• Maintains equipment to ensure that it remains in proper working order and ensures that proper supplies are available as needed.
• Utilizes proper sterilization and cleansing of all probes according to department policy and procedure.
• Affords assistance with other job-related duties including film processing, urgent requests, and scheduling.
• Travel between Marlborough and Nashoba/Groton as scheduled to provide operational, administrative, or departmental support.

Position Qualifications

• Licenses/Certifications/Educations: Required - Graduate of an accredited Ultrasonography or Radiological Technology program. Registration required by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) in one category within one year of hire date.
• Experience/Skills: Required - Minimum one year of experience in diagnostic ultrasound under the direction of a qualified physician. Knowledge consistent with outlines in Physics and Instrumentation, Abdominal OB/Gyn Ultrasound for ARDMS exams. Demonstrated ability to provide quality patient care with minimal supervision in a fast-paced setting, collaborating with peers to produce optimum results. Verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with patients and families.
