About the Role

Under general direction, the Ultrasound Technologist performs quality ultrasound procedures and quality assurance/quality control activities to meet ACR accreditation, state, and federal regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Performs general, OBGYN, and vascular ultrasound procedures.
  • Provides imaging assistance to the radiologist for interventional ultrasound procedures.
  • Reviews inpatient requisitions and prioritizes patient list based on severity of illness, special procedures, special requests, and equipment availability; revises patient schedule as needed.
  • Manages procurement, storage, and routing of supplies for room preparation.
  • Ensures reusable instruments are delivered for sterilization and decontaminated/stored using appropriate processes; completes sterilization procedures per manufacturer and hospital guidelines.
  • Reviews patient’s relevant previous imaging prior to exam.
  • Interviews patients to acquire clinical history and correlates physical findings with adjunct imaging modalities.
  • Maintains regular attendance and punctuality for scheduled shifts.
  • Adapts assessment and care methods to accommodate physical, cultural, age-specific, and developmental needs of patients.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge through continuing education.
  • Utilizes assistive devices for lifting and adheres to safety protocols at all times.
  • Complies with DRH policy, including required vaccinations and respirator/fit testing for exposure risks.
  • Implements DRH Standards of Behavior and exhibits core values.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Successful completion of a diagnostic medical sonography program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP).
  • 1 year of ultrasound experience preferred.
  • American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) registration required (may obtain within 6 months of hire).
  • American Heart Association BLS certification (may obtain within 30 days of hire).
  • Fluency in oral and written English; basic computer skills, including email and EHR tools.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt to emergent or urgent situations and modify procedures as needed.

Additional Information

This is a safety-sensitive position under Oklahoma law. Applicants cannot test positive for THC (including with a valid medical marijuana card) in pre-employment or post-employment drug tests. Respirator and fit testing are required for exposure to airborne infectious diseases, droplet-producing procedures, or caustic chemicals. Vaccinations are required per DRH policy, with exemptions available upon request.
