Responsibilities
- Performs general, OBGYN, and vascular ultrasound procedures.
- Provides imaging assistance to the radiologist for interventional ultrasound procedures.
- Reviews inpatient requisitions and prioritizes patient list in order of severity of illness, special procedures, special requests, and equipment availability.
- Revises patient schedule as new procedures are requested and circumstances change.
- Manages the procurement, storage, and routing of supplies for room preparation.
- Ensures reusable instruments are delivered to the appropriate department for sterilization.
- Ensures all instruments are decontaminated and stored using the appropriate processes, solutions, supplies, and equipment.
- Completes necessary procedures for sterilization per manufacturer instructions and hospital procedures.
- Prepares and documents sterilization process charts, logs, and records per hospital and regulatory guidelines.
- Reviews patient’s relevant, previous imaging prior to exam.
- Interviews patient to acquire clinical history.
- Correlates physical findings with adjunct imaging modalities.
- Manages sterilization process for reusable instruments.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge through continuing education opportunities including internal and external educational offerings.
- Utilizes assistive devices for lifting as necessary.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge through continuing education opportunities including internal and external educational offerings.
- Adapts assessment, treatment, and/or care methods to accommodate the physical, cultural, age-specific, and other developmental needs of each person served.
- Adapts procedures, processes, tools, equipment, and techniques to accomplish the requirements of the position.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Successful completion of a diagnostic medical sonography program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) required.
- 1 year of ultrasound experience preferred.
- American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) registration required; may have up to 6 months from date of hire or transfer to obtain.
- American Heart Association BLS; may have up to 30 days from date of hire or transfer to obtain.
- Required testing for respirator and fit testing.
- Must adhere to safety protocols at all times.
- Team Member in a “Safety-Sensitive” Position as defined by Oklahoma law.
- Vaccinations are required per DRH Policy.
- Medical and Religious Exemptions are available upon request.
