Ultrasound Technician RD OB CRD VAS

Location: Bronx, New York

Hourly Rate: $55.14

Schedule: 8:30 AM–5 PM, days vary (7.5 hours daily). This position may require coverage at other hospital locations and outpatient practices as needed.

About the Role

The Registered Ultrasound Technologist performs various modalities of cardiac ultrasound, including transthoracic echo, stress (exercise and pharmacological) echo (including echo with contrast), assistance in transesophageal echo, and assistance in echo-guided invasive procedures. Responsibilities include preparing preliminary findings reports, transmitting studies, performing bedside echoes, and covering various outpatient satellite sites and hospital echo labs.

Responsibilities

• Perform transthoracic echocardiograms, stress echocardiograms (exercise and pharmacological), and echocardiograms with contrast.
• Assist in transesophageal echocardiograms and echo-guided invasive procedures.
• Prepare preliminary findings reports and transmit studies.
• Perform bedside echocardiograms.
• Cover various outpatient satellite sites and hospital echo labs as needed.

Requirements

• Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS or RDCS) with at least 6 months of hospital experience as an Echo Technologist in an acute care setting.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of a CAAHEP-certified cardiovascular sonography program preferred.
• BLS certification required.
• 30 continuing education credits per three-year rolling triennium to maintain active registered status.

Skills

• Proficiency in operating various ultrasound systems, including Phillips iE33, Phillips Epiq, Phillips CX-50, and SONOS 7500/5500.
• Knowledge of PC computers for data entry, Celera, LifeImage, and Epic applications.
• Extensive knowledge of ultrasound physics principles, cardiac anatomy, physiology, and pathology.
• Experience with exercise stress echo, pharmacological stress echo, transesophageal echo, and echo-guided invasive procedures.
• Proficiency in sterile techniques and procedures.
• Experience with Xcelera and Apollo software.
