Ultrasound Tech-Multi/ Full-Time-Days(Afternoon-Evening)/Miami Valley South

About the Role

Independently performs diagnostic ultrasound procedures and ultrasound-directed interventional procedures utilizing proper techniques and protocols. Operates equipment within scope of practice and registry guidelines, coordinates patient flow, and maintains equipment in good working condition. May perform procedures in other imaging modalities based on departmental needs and may have on-call responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Performs ultrasound procedures of diagnostic quality as ordered by the referring physician and/or radiologist on patients of all ages according to established protocols and evaluates studies for technical image quality.
• Obtains clinical history and data for correlation with the ultrasound procedure.
• Performs daily and weekly quality control as required.
• Practices sterile technique as required.
• Assists radiologists in special procedures and in performing medical treatment during emergency situations.
• Coordinates patient care with other areas to optimize patient time and satisfaction.
• Assesses learning needs and educates patients/families regarding procedures based on individual needs.
• Ensures all records, files, and reports are properly recorded; performs clerical duties when necessary; verifies a signed physician order is received and corresponds with the billed procedure.
• Maintains knowledge of the locations and operation of all emergency equipment in the unit.
• Follows radiation safety policies and procedures.
• Adheres to infection prevention policies, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations.
• Participates in ongoing quality improvement activities.
• Maintains compliance with organizational policies, professional standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Demonstrates excellent customer service and professional representation of the organization.

Requirements

• Associate degree in Allied Health with a major in Ultrasonography, or graduate of an accredited ultrasonography program.
• Credentialed in Ultrasound technology by one of the following:
  • American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS)
  • Sonographer by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
• Vascular credential by one of the following:
  • ARDMS - Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT)
  • CCI (RVS), Cardiovascular Credentialing International, Registered Vascular Specialist
• Minimum of one additional registry in practiced specialties as approved by ARDMS (e.g., Abdomen, OB/GYN, Musculoskeletal, Neurosonology, Breast).
• CPR Certification required within 30 days of hire.
• Preferred: 2 years of experience in Ultrasound.

• Proficient in performing diagnostic procedures and obtaining diagnostic images for physician interpretation.
• Proficient in Electronic Medical Record (EMR), Radiology Information System (RIS), and image storage.
• Advanced ultrasound applications.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work under stressful conditions, including emergency situations or heavy workloads.
• Ability to push, pull, or lift up to 50 pounds.
• Consistent manual dexterity, visual acuity (near and far), color vision, and hearing.
• Frequent standing, walking, twisting, reaching, stooping, and pulling.
• Ability to concentrate, read, and think critically.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

• Must be able to work consistently (76%–100% of the time) in the following conditions:
  • Sitting, using both hands, talking, concentrating, reading, visual acuity (near and far), color vision, walking, manual dexterity, lifting up to 10 pounds.
• Frequently (41%–75% of the time):
  • Pushing, pulling, standing, twisting, reaching, stooping, lifting more than 10 pounds, hearing, other sounds.
• Rarely (0%–10% of the time):
  • Climbing, kneeling.
• May be exposed to aggressive or violent behaviors from patients, family members, or visitors.
• May be exposed to blood and body fluids, including those with tuberculosis, HIV, hepatitis, or body infestations.

Schedule

Full-Time, 2:30 p.m.–11:00 p.m., Monday–Friday.
