Stony Brook Southampton Hospital, part of Stony Brook Medicine, provides direct access to academic-based medical care in the heart of Southampton village. The hospital serves a diverse community with a year-round population of approximately 75,000, expanding to over 300,000 during the summer months.

About the role

Maintain and exhibit behavior that promotes confidence and trust while working independently. Perform diagnostic Ultrasound examinations for evaluation and treatment by attending physicians, including:

  • Abdominal and Retroperitoneal exams
  • Obstetric and Gynecological exams
  • Carotid and Vascular exams
  • Small Parts and Intracavity exams

Ensure all aspects of patient care optimize safety and reduce the likelihood of medical or healthcare errors. The schedule may include days, weekends, nights, and call rotation.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to hospital and department policies, including regular and prompt attendance
  • Work assigned schedule, including overtime and on-call shifts as required
  • Assist with training and maintain an orderly, clean work environment
  • Use appropriate customer relation skills with physicians, patients, families, and healthcare teams
  • Float to all off-site locations as needed
  • Participate in call/on-call/recall, holidays, and weekends as required
  • Occasional travel to other locations to support operational needs

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Graduate of an Ultrasound Technology program
  • Certification in Ultrasound or eligible (ARDMS or ARRT Certification required within 6 months of hire)

Prior to start date, candidates must:

  • Successfully complete pre-employment physical examination and obtain medical clearance
  • Complete electronic reference check with a minimum of three professional references
  • Successfully complete a 4-panel drug screen
  • Meet regulatory requirements for pre-employment screenings
  • Provide a copy of any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s)

This position may require wearing respiratory protection, which may prohibit facial hair, and may be designated as "essential" during institutional emergencies.

Pay

$50.34 - $59.59 per hour (based on relevant experience).

Schedule

Full-time, including potential overtime, on-call shifts, weekends, nights, and holidays.
