Ultrasonographer (General/Vascular Sonographer) - Ultrasound Heart Center - FT - Day

About the role

Produces two-dimensional and three-dimensional ultrasonic recordings of internal organs for use by physicians in diagnosis of disease and study of malfunction of organs.

Responsibilities

• Selects appropriate equipment/transducer for use in ultrasound setup according to specifications of examination/protocol.
• Selects transducer and adjusts equipment controls according to organ to be examined, depth of field, and other specifications of test.
• Moves transducer, by hand, over specified area of body and observes sound wave display screen to monitor quality of ultrasonic pattern produced.
• Demonstrates knowledge of and performs department exam protocols.
• Explains process to patient, and instructs and assists patient in assuming physical position for examination.
• Accurately enters required data into Lumedx (PACS) system.
• Completes and participates in Quality Improvement evaluation as needed/assigned.
• Starts equipment, which produces images of internal organs and records diagnostic data on magnetic tape, computer disk, strip printout, or film.
• Photographs images of organs shown on display module, or removes strip printout from equipment, to obtain permanent record of internal examination.
• Disinfects equipment and area.
• Participates in training of Washburn University students as directed.
• Demonstrates knowledge of and performs proper high-level disinfection processes for probe care. (If applicable)
• Perform cardiac sonography duties as required.
• Selects and adds correct associated examination charges as needed.
• Displays a professional appearance.
• Contributes to a team atmosphere by demonstrating excellent communication skills, taking initiative to perform needed tasks, and being flexible to go beyond normal expectations to meet the needs of others.
• Willingly accepts various work assignments.

Requirements

• Completion of a formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program through an accredited organization or on the job training in ultrasound that led to registry.
• Customer service experience.
• Preferred experience in Ultrasound.
• Preferred experience in a hospital or clinical setting.

Qualifications

• Licenses and Certifications: Registry Diagnostic Medical Sonographer - ARDMS, ARDMS-Sonography, CCI-Sonography, or ARRT-Sonography are also accepted dependent upon department.
• Required Basic Life Support - BLS within 90 days of hire.
