Ultrasonographer (Flint Hills) - Radiology Diag - FT - Day

About the role

The Diagnostic Medical Sonographer is responsible for producing diagnostic ultrasound examinations, identifying and documenting findings, and communicating these to the interpreting physician.

Responsibilities

• Performs diagnostic ultrasound examinations using sonographic skills to identify, document, and adapt examinations as appropriate to anatomical, pathological, and diagnostic criteria.
• Uses independent judgment during the ultrasound exam to accurately obtain diagnostic images necessary to differentiate between normal and pathologic findings and communicates findings to the interpreting radiologist.
• Assumes responsibility for the safety, mental, and physical comfort of patients.
• Selects proper imaging transducer and equipment and operates effectively, efficiently, and safely.
• Selects and adds correct associated examination charges as needed.
• Captures and documents patient information accurately.
• Coordinates examinations by priority while efficiently performing exams in a sequence which minimizes the patient’s stay in the hospital.
• Selects and adds correct associated examination charges as needed.
• Completes mandatory educational assignments and competencies as assigned by manager.
• Participates in training of colleagues and sonography students as directed.
• Rotating call is a requirement of the position.

Requirements

• Completion of a formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program through an accredited organization or on the job training in ultrasound that led to registry.
• Required Experience Qualifications: Customer service experience. Preferred Experience in Ultrasound. Preferred Experience in a hospital or clinical setting.
• Preferred Skills And Abilities: Experience utilizing imaging equipment.
• Licenses and Certifications: Registry Diagnostic Medical Sonographer - ARDMS ARRT-Sonography or CCI-Sonography are also accepted dependent upon department.
• Required Basic Life Support - BLS Required within 90 days of hire.
