UI/UX Software Developer

Responsibilities

• Define the UI strategy and technical stack in consultation with the Technology Architect.
• Identify techniques and technologies for the application front end level.
• Work closely with the BA, business team, and UX consultants to review, discuss, and finalize user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) design.
• Create working web UI pages from the images and samples provided by the UX consultants.
• Provide direction and supervision to 2 additional UI developers.
• Create front end best practices and patterns for UI and Java developers to follow.
• Communicate pros and cons of UI technologies and justify tech stack selection.
• Facilitate decisions on User Experience (UX) design.
• Facilitate decisions on User Interface (UI) design.
• Work with the BA to understand the requirements of the application.
• Work with BA, Business and UX consultants to help facilitate page layout, look, behavior, and navigation.
• Create standalone page prototypes from images and samples provided by UX consultants.
• Create standalone page prototypes to help visualize suggestions made during discussions to facilitate decisions.
• Define estimates for implementation and lead the development effort for the UI team.
• Work with Java developers to identify backend services needed to make the pages fully functional.

Requirements

• Strong User interface design experience developing user-facing software.
• Strong understanding of JavaScript, its quirks, and workarounds.
• Strong understanding of web markup, including HTML5 and CSS3.
• Strong understanding of JQuery, AngularJS, ReactJS.
• Good understanding of asynchronous request handling, partial page updates, AJAX and web sockets.
• Good understanding of browser rendering behavior and performance.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to lead/manage UI/UX discussions.
• Excellent influence, negotiation, and presentation skills.
• Familiarity with NodeJS.
• Familiarity with cross-browser compatibility issues and ways to work around such issues.
• Familiarity with front-end build tools, such as Grunt.
• Familiarity with code versioning tools, such as GIT, SVN.
