About the role

MCI is seeking a UI/UX Designer to lead the design of our labor marketplace platform. This role requires a deep understanding of user needs and the ability to translate complex workforce workflows into intuitive interfaces.

Responsibilities

  • Lead UI/UX design for our labor marketplace across web and mobile platforms.
  • Create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs using industry-standard tools (Figma preferred).
  • Build a cohesive design system that supports speed, scalability, accessibility, and brand consistency.
  • Collaborate with product managers and engineers on feature definition, workflow design, and sprint planning.
  • Conduct user research and usability testing to validate concepts and streamline hiring flows.
  • Use data-driven insights to optimize conversion funnels, reduce friction, and lift engagement.
  • Design dashboards, onboarding flows, scheduling tools, messaging interfaces, and profile pages tailored to employer and worker personas.
  • Solve complex workforce challenges (availability, pay rates, compliance, onboarding, hiring velocity) through elegant UX solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, Design, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 3-5+ years of UI/UX design experience, ideally with marketplaces, HR tech, gig-economy platforms, ATS/CRM systems, or workforce products.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing end-to-end product design, especially conversion-driven flows.
  • Expertise in Figma, prototyping tools, and design systems.
  • Ability to translate ambiguous problems into clear, human-centered solutions.
  • Comfortable working with product metrics (drop-off points, CTA conversion, time-to-complete, etc.).
  • Comprehensive understanding of accessibility standards and responsive design.

Skills & Attributes

  • Experience designing labor or talent marketplaces, staffing platforms, gig or shift-based workforce apps, or B2B SaaS.
  • Knowledge of HRIS, ATS, CRM, onboarding, identity verification, or scheduling systems.
  • Familiarity with front-end implementation constraints (React, component libraries, etc.).
  • Motion/interaction design skills.
  • Passion for human-centered design and solving real-world workforce challenges.
  • Strong collaboration mindset, working seamlessly across product, engineering, and operations.
  • Analytical thinker who leverages data to drive design decisions.
  • Creative problem-solver with a knack for simplifying complexity into intuitive experiences.
  • Detail-oriented yet able to balance speed and scalability in design execution.

Benefits

We offer a competitive compensation and benefits package that includes:

  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage after 60 days of employment.
  • Retirement savings programs.
  • Short-term disability coverage.
  • Life insurance options.
  • Contests with cash bonuses and prizes.
  • Flexible work arrangements.
  • Continuous learning and development opportunities.
