Freelance UI/UX Designer Position Overview Our client, a well-known insurance company, is looking for a freelance UI / UX Designer to join their team! This is a hybrid onsite / remote role for the next year (with potential to extend) and will be 3 days onsite at their NYC or Jersey City office and 2 days remote (Tuesday - Thursday on, Monday + Friday remote). Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and deliver engaging, brand-driven digital experiences across a large-scale corporate website, ensuring consistency throughout key customer journeys and touchpoints. Create visual and interaction designs that align with brand standards, user needs, business objectives, and established design system guidelines. Translate brand principles and strategic goals into intuitive, scalable user experiences that balance storytelling, usability, accessibility, and conversion objectives. Design and support marketing campaigns, branded experiences, and promotional content that integrate seamlessly with the broader website experience. Apply existing design system components, templates, and patterns while identifying opportunities to improve and evolve reusable design standards. Ensure consistent implementation of typography, color, spacing, accessibility, responsive behavior, and interaction design best practices. Create production-ready designs, define interaction states and edge cases, and partner with Product, Engineering, Marketing, and Content teams to ensure accurate execution. Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high-quality design standards and proactively identifying opportunities to improve the overall user experience. Communicate design rationale, recommendations, and tradeoffs effectively to stakeholders, while contributing to the ongoing evolution of the digital experience and design system.QualificationsBachelor's degree in Design, Interaction Design, Communication Design, or a related field. 3+ years of experience designing digital products, websites, or user experiences with strong visual and interaction design capabilities. Portfolio showcasing UX/UI, digital product, brand, campaign, or storytelling-focused design work. Strong understanding of user-centered design principles, interaction design, visual design, accessibility, and UX best practices. Experience designing brand-driven digital experiences, marketing campaigns, and customer journeys across web and digital platforms. Proven experience working within component-based design systems and creating scalable, reusable design patterns. Understanding of content strategy, content structure, and storytelling as they relate to user experience and business outcomes. Strong collaboration skills with cross-functional teams including Design, Product, Engineering, Marketing, and Content. Experience with Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) or other component-based content management systems. Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Adobe Creative Cloud, and related software. Ability to work independently, manage ambiguity, and prioritize competing projects in a fast-paced environment. Preferred experience with Adobe Analytics, Google Analytics, experimentation tools, financial services, regulated industries, or complex multi-step customer journeys. Excellent communication, organizational, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills with strong attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality execution.In this position, you may have access to client or customer systems, confidential and/or proprietary information or data, including financial information.
