UI Designer
About the role
You'll own the visual quality of Colonist's UI. That means translating game mechanics into beautiful, intuitive interfaces, and making every button, animation, and screen feel like it belongs in a world players want to stay in. You'll work closely with developers and product to ship work that reaches millions of players. This isn't a support role. We want someone who pushes quality forward independently and treats the product like their own.
Responsibilities
- Create high-quality UI designs that set a new standard for creativity and usability
- Create animations and motion that make interactions feel alive and intentional
- Collaborate with developers and QA to ensure designs ship as intended
- Identify and solve visual problems without waiting to be asked
Requirements
- AI first-mindset. We see AI fluency as a real multiplier
- Strong portfolio showing game UI, interaction design, or animation work (link yours when applying)
- Proficiency in Figma or equivalent tools
- Solid grasp of animation principles and motion design
- Understanding of game mechanics and how UI serves gameplay
- Clear, structured written communication; this is a remote, async team
Nice to Have
- Basic scripting for prototyping (JavaScript, C#, or AI-assisted tooling)
- Game sound design experience
