About the role
The UGE Cable Splicer is a skilled field position responsible for repairing electrical underground distribution systems, performing cable splicing functions (new to new or new to existing), and rearranging existing cable.
Responsibilities
- Splice and rearrange cable pairs
- Open and bond cables
- Place and ground various types of enclosures
- Read splicing prints and apply color codes
- Dig holes and replace dirt upon completion
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent
- 3 years of experience
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) preferred
- 5 or more years of experience preferred
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Field environment with extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, and standing
- Work in inclement weather (extreme heat/cold, rain, ice, snow, wind)
- Physically active role requiring lifting up to 50 pounds
- Must have clarity of vision (distance and near), depth perception, hand-eye coordination, and ability to distinguish colors
