About the role

The UGE Cable Splicer is a skilled field position responsible for repairing electrical underground distribution systems, performing cable splicing functions (new to new or new to existing), and rearranging existing cable. This role supports the Splicing team and collaborates with department personnel.

Responsibilities

• Splice and rearrange cable pairs
• Open and bond cables
• Place and ground various types of enclosures
• Read splicing prints and apply color codes
• Dig holes and replace dirt upon completion
• Perform other assigned duties as required

Requirements

• Minimum high school diploma or equivalent
• 3 years of experience (5+ years preferred)

Physical Demands and Work Environment

This role operates in a field environment, routinely requiring extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting in awkward positions, standing, and twisting. Work occurs in inclement weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, ice, snow, and wind. The position is physically active, requiring the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, precise hand-eye coordination, and the ability to identify and distinguish colors. Clarity of vision at varying distances is essential.
