About the role

The Client’s Datacenter Firmware team is seeking an enthusiastic engineer passionate about server products to contribute to the EPYC product line, helping transform the x86 server market. In this role, you will work on cutting-edge technologies, including advanced chiplet designs, the latest silicon process technologies, and optimized IO architectures. You will develop and deploy firmware solutions addressing complex challenges in the data-driven world, ensuring customers can leverage EPYC designs. Collaborating with SoC architects, you will deliver scalable, robust, high-quality, and innovative server platform BIOS solutions while minimizing time-to-market.

The Person

A successful candidate will bring deep technical expertise in firmware development, strong problem-solving skills, and excellent communication abilities. You should have a collaborative mindset to work closely with silicon design, platform design, and validation teams, along with the organizational skills to manage issues proactively and communicate risks effectively. This role requires independent contribution to technical development efforts and the ability to represent the firmware team in internal and external collaborations. Proficiency in software methodologies, firmware design, and cross-functional teamwork is essential, with a focus on quality and on-time delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate on end-to-end firmware flows and component integration, communicating a clear understanding of technical design and implementation.
  • Design and develop platform BIOS based on silicon and board features.
  • Participate in triage, debug, and validation processes across the product lifecycle, partnering with silicon design, platform design, and debug teams to address system issues.
  • Write high-quality, scalable code in C and/or ASM to deliver BIOS solutions for server platforms aligned with customer needs and internal objectives.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in BIOS, firmware, or system software development with solid knowledge of x86 system architecture.
  • Excellent C programming skills; x86 assembly experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of server hardware interfaces (e.g., Ethernet, SATA, AHCI, DDR5, PCIe, SPI, I2C, NVMe).
  • Familiarity with server BIOS architecture and industry standards (e.g., ACPI, SMBIOS, PCIe).
  • Experience with AMI AptioV BIOS is highly desirable.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (preferred) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
