About the Role

The Clinical Nurse (CN) identifies and implements nursing interventions and evaluates results for a wide variety of patient populations. This position provides total, comprehensive, continuous, and patient-centered care, including assessing, documenting, planning, implementing, teaching, and evaluating a comprehensive nursing plan of care. The CN delivers direct patient care, ensures patient satisfaction, trains and delegates duties, and adheres to University policies and procedures as well as federal, state, and local regulations.

Autonomous nursing care involves assessing and providing nursing actions based on competence, professional expertise, and knowledge, consistent with ANA Standards of Practice and Professional Performance. Independent judgment is expected within interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches to patient care. The CN provides direct care to a diversified patient population, applies clinical judgment, participates in patient and staff education, demonstrates leadership, and maintains accountability for practice as defined by the Nurse Practice Act.

Responsibilities

• Assess, document, plan, implement, teach, and evaluate a comprehensive nursing plan of care in coordination with patients, families, and interdisciplinary staff.
• Deliver direct patient care and ensure patient satisfaction.
• Communicate changes in patient clinical conditions with physicians, nursing supervisors, and co-workers.
• Participate in discharge planning.
• Train and delegate duties to other nursing team members.
• Demonstrate leadership and accountability for nursing practices.
• Apply knowledge of current trends in nursing, legal implications in clinical practice, and evidence-based practices.
• Utilize medical terminology appropriately and adapt to changes in a positive, professional, and productive manner.

Requirements

• Valid California Registered Nurse License without restriction.
• American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS), or UC Davis Health CPR certification.
• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
• At least one (1) year of recent inpatient rehabilitation experience as a Registered Nurse within the last three years.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Ability to utilize medical terminology appropriately.
• Knowledge of current trends in nursing and legal implications in clinical practice.
• Commitment to excellence in patient care and effective interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated accountability, professionalism, and adaptability to change.
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care considering developmental, behavioral, and physiological characteristics.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

Department Overview

The Joint Venture Rehabilitation Hospital provides a full range of rehabilitation services designed to restore patients to their optimal functional capacity. The hospital is a 52-bed facility on the Sacramento medical center campus, equipped with leading-edge amenities and adaptive units for practicing daily living activities. It includes a 12-bed brain injury unit and four private rooms for bariatric patients.

Pay

$99.53 per hour (Salary Grade: 107).

Schedule

• 20% time (approximately 8 hours per week).
• Variable shift: Night (NOC) 18:45–07:15.
• 100% on-site at Joint Venture Rehabilitation Hospital (JVREHAB).
