UAS Pilot III

About the role

This position is responsible for planning, scheduling and executing UAS/UAV missions. The UAS Pilot III will inspect, maintain, repair, configure, and operate group I through II UAS vehicles to meet test requirements, handling all aspects of UAS operations from launch to sensor package operations as well as communications with air controllers.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate test customers' requested test items and determine payload limitations; make recommendations to test customers on possible alternatives if necessary
• Research and monitor UAS/UAV advancements and make recommendations to management and/or USAF engineers on best products to purchase
• Research replacement parts, stock parts, and manage inventory control
• Document operation/maintenance actions, perform minor maintenance and inspections of assigned vehicle and trailer
• Install and connect test and data collection equipment in vehicles and trailers
• Integrate platforms under test into UAS airframes
• Comply with USAF and FAA flight management requirements
• Wear company-provided PPE

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; advanced formal education in the UAS field desirable
• Five years' experience operating group I and II UASs required
• Experience using Piccolo and Pixhawk based UASs required
• Experience operating group III UASs highly desirable
• Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Knowledge of UAS maintenance and operations highly valued
• Operational experience with Tigershark UAS as pilot or co-pilot extremely desirable
• Remote-controlled aircraft and private pilot license highly desirable
• Operational experience with HQ60 or HQ90 UAS an advantage

Work environment

Work may be performed at any location on the Eglin Test range in all weather conditions. Temporary duty assignments to locations throughout CONUS may be required.

Required to climb, bend, stoop, lift up to 50 pounds, pull, or carry heavy items.
