The anticipated salary range for this role is $80,000 to $96,000 annually. Actual compensation may vary depending on qualifications, experience, geographical location, and internal alignment.

About the Role

Redwire Defense Tech is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a UAS Operator/Instructor II. This role involves operating uncrewed aircraft systems (UAS), providing technical support, and delivering training to ensure safe and efficient operations. The ideal candidate should possess FAA ratings, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to conduct demonstrations and equipment testing.

Responsibilities

• Perform UAS Operations: Plan, coordinate, and execute advanced UAS operations in challenging environments in compliance with FAA regulations and company guidelines. Lead mission planning, risk assessments, pre-flight inspections, and detailed post-flight evaluations. Ensure safe and efficient UAS operations in various operational environments. Travel up to 50%.
• Technical Support: Perform advanced troubleshooting, diagnostics, and corrective actions on UAS equipment. Conduct equipment testing and evaluation to ensure optimal performance and functionality. Stay updated with the latest UAS technology advancements and industry trends.
• Training Delivery: Develop, refine, and deliver UAS training programs for both internal personnel and external clients. Instruct and guide individuals in UAS piloting techniques, safety procedures, and regulatory compliance. Conduct demonstrations and simulations to enhance trainees' understanding and proficiency.
• Safety and Compliance: Adhere to FAA regulations and guidelines, ensuring compliance during UAS operations and training activities. Promote and maintain a culture of safety, emphasizing best practices and risk mitigation strategies.
• Assumes all other responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum 4 years of directly related experience.
• Strong attention to detail, with the ability to meticulously follow operational protocols and safety procedures.
• Experience in conducting demonstrations and equipment testing.
• Knowledge of UAS technology, airspace regulations, and industry best practices.
• Excellent communication and instructional skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex concepts to trainees.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities in UAS equipment.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic team environment.
• Ability to lift boxes regularly.

Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:

• Military Experience.
• FAA UAS pilot-rated.
• 5+ years of directly related experience.
• Bachelor’s Degree.

Clearance Requirements
