About the role
This position will have AmeriCorps Volunteers serving in an educational role, using an urban farm to teach young people ages 5-18 about urban agriculture, nutrition, culinary skills and leadership skills and more. This position is ideal for someone who wants to work outdoors, teaching kids and having a variety of educational opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Develop, facilitate, & evaluate educational field trips for nearly 8,000 youth each school year.
- Lead groups of youth through leadership, communication & problem-solving activities on the 4-H Ropes Course.
- Train volunteers to assist with all aspects of programming.
- Lead & teach youth & community volunteers about urban agriculture and nutrition.
- Market & promote programming through social media, newsletters & community outreach events.
- Assist with large community events.
Requirements
- Experience with youth & working with the public;
- Ability to work outside in a variety of weather conditions;
- Lift over 50 pounds & work nights & weekends;
- Valid Driver’s License.
