U.S. Private Bank - Lending Specialist - Senior Associate

About the role

We are seeking exceptionally talented individuals who are collaborative, confident, and motivated to provide a first-class experience to clients within J.P. Morgan's U.S. Private Bank. You will work alongside a team of talented colleagues from other markets, businesses, and functions, offering opportunities to advance your career. As a Lending Specialist, you will advise clients on their capital structure and provide tailored credit solutions to meet their needs and circumstances.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in pitches to existing and prospective clients.
  • Analyze the book of existing clients to identify new potential opportunities.
  • Maintain an ongoing dialogue with existing borrowing clients.
  • Advise, negotiate, and execute loan structures.
  • Structure solutions to client financing needs within acceptable risk parameters and in accordance with policies and regulations.
  • Maintain a quality credit book with active client dialogue and prompt escalation of candidates.
  • Follow up on all client-related credit issues (e.g., missed margin calls, legal documentation, etc.).
  • Liaise closely with Credit Risk using thorough knowledge of the JP Morgan Credit Risk Underwriting Policy & Guidelines to ensure the best outcome for the client.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Series 7 & 66 licenses required for the position; unlicensed candidates will be considered but must obtain licenses within 90 days of start date.
  • Five plus years of credit risk experience, ideally in the financial services industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of bank loan, deposit, mortgage, and credit products.
  • Ability to understand the overall credit capabilities and risk management philosophy of the firm.
  • Understanding of wealth management, including investing, trust, and financial planning.
  • Experience with banking concepts such as marketable secured lending, investment real estate loans, concentrated collateral loans, aircraft lending, owner-occupied commercial real estate, and bridge loans.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA.
  • Knowledge of capital markets and the macro interest rate environment.
  • Familiarity with account maintenance procedures, loan closing procedures, credit administration, and compliance procedures.
  • Expertise in credit and derivatives transactions.
  • Sales experience, including profiling, overcoming objections, negotiation, team selling, closing the sale, and asking for referrals.
