Tzotzil Interpreter

About the role

LanguageLine Solutions is hiring a Tzotzil-English phone interpreter to work remotely from your home. This is an independent contractor position and not eligible for employee benefits.

Responsibilities

• Handle interpreting sessions promptly and professionally.
• Render accurate interpretations of conversations between Tzotzil and English speakers.
• Speak clearly in both languages with proper pronunciation and enunciation.
• Maintain a professional demeanor and remain calm during interpreting sessions.
• Ensure punctuality and availability during work hours.
• Follow client instructions and comply with protocol to meet client expectations.
• Understand and adhere to industry-specific terminology and procedures.
• Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and work in a diverse environment.
• Be prepared to handle emotionally and/or stressful calls.

Qualifications

• Fluency in Tzotzil and English with cultural competency.
• Excellent listening, retention, and note-taking skills.
• Ability to remain neutral and objective during sensitive calls.
• Education or work experience in language-related fields preferred.
• Adaptability to LLS technology enhancements.
• Age 18 or older.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read and write requested languages preferred.
