Twister Operator D Shift (Dalton, Georgia, United States)

Primary Objective

- Set up, operate, and tend to many machines organized into a frame that twist yarn together.

Major Function and Scope

• Creel single or double ply yarn packages and load yarn into twister
• Reposition buggies of yarn at the twisters and stage tubes for winder operation
• Thread ends of single yarns, operate the spindle, and repair breakouts during production runs
• Doff twisted yarn packages and transfer them from the conveyor to a buggy/container
• Monitor production output and machine equipment for safe and efficient operation
• Clean and dechoke spindles to maintain machine efficiency and meet production requirements
• Perform quality checks using black lights to check yarn
• Attend any job-related training deemed necessary by supervision
• Follow all established standard operating and safety procedures as well as company policies
• Perform general housekeeping duties as necessary
• Perform other tasks assigned by management

Years of Experience and Knowledge

- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred - Successful completion of all required on the job training - Successful completion of all required health and environmental safety training - Previous Yarn or Manufacturing experience is preferred

Competencies

- Operate in a team-based environment - Basic math skills - Attention to details - Deal with problems involving variables in standardized situations - Read spec sheets or product information

Physical Requirements / Other Pertinent Job Information

- May require bending, squatting, climbing, and other physical movement for long periods of time - Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds frequently - Working around moving equipment and in an industrial environment - Working in an environment where there may be regular exposure to chemicals, noise from machinery, dust, fumes, and variable temperatures
