About the role
The Host is responsible for providing a great first impression by displaying a friendly demeanor and escorting Guests to tables. The Host takes reservations and manages a waitlist when necessary, and coordinates to-go food business by following Twin Peaks standard operating procedures to accommodate to-go orders for Guests.
Responsibilities
- Greet Guests in a friendly manner and escort them to tables.
- Identify the needs of the Guest and make a customized connection.
- Exhibit an outgoing personality to promote a warm and inviting atmosphere.
- Communicate and interact with Guests, handle crowds, and put Guests at ease.
- Monitor sorting and workflow of the restaurant and seat Guests accordingly.
- Manage large parties, explain seating options, provide wait times, and escalate Guest concerns.
- Open and close sections based on the volume of Guests.
- Rearrange chairs and tables if necessary and retrieve highchairs when needed.
- Answer phone calls and handle call-ahead seating requests.
- Inflate and tie off balloons and perform restroom checks.
- Help maintain the dining area by assisting servers with clearing and resetting tables and taking dishes to the kitchen.
- Practice safe food and beverage handling and cleanliness at all times.
- Communicate and interact effectively with co-workers during high-stress times.
- Maintain a high degree of pace and intensity for extended periods.
- Adhere to schedule, be on time for shifts, training, and required meetings.
- Operate effectively in a team environment.
To-go Functions (when assigned)
- Take accurate orders by telephone or in-person, explain menu items, and offer appropriate suggestions to Guests.
- Organize food orders and deliver food to Guests, including Curbside where applicable.
- Assemble prepared food, drinks, and condiments in to-go containers accurately to ensure safe transport.
- Safely handle food prep equipment such as knives, coffee maker, and iced tea machine.
- Use the POS (Point of Sale) system and handheld device effectively and accurately.
- Handle money accurately, make change, and process credit card transactions.
Physical Effort
- Lifting: up to 10 lbs constantly, up to 25 lbs frequently, up to 50 lbs occasionally.
- Lifting from floor to shoulder occasionally and overhead infrequently.
- Exposed to cleaning chemicals.
- Color and depth perception required for vision; both near and far vision needed.
- Twist and reach constantly.
- Grasp objects to move or manipulate them constantly.
- Stand and walk constantly inside and outside the restaurant.
- Listen to and comprehend instructions over background noise constantly.
- Frequent hand washing required.
Other Functions
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Adhere to company uniform and appearance policy.
Qualifications
- High School degree or equivalent preferred.
- No experience required.

- Strong knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures in a restaurant.

Working Conditions
- Use of equipment: iPad, computer/POS, desk supplies, telephone, bus tub, trays, tables, chairs, high chairs, coffee maker, garbage cans, glass rack, dish machine, ice buckets, food product.
- Regular exposure to fumes or airborne particles from the kitchen.
- Occasional exposure to wet and/or humid conditions in the dish area or walk-in cooler.
- Possible exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals when cleaning.
- Loud noise levels in the restaurant.
- Possible exposure to cigarette or cigar smoke in locations with smoking sections.
