About the role

Patiëntenfederatie Nederland seeks two members for its Raad van Toezicht. One vacancy calls for a zorginhoudelijk en medisch‑maatschappelijk profile, the other for a publiek‑bestuurlijk en maatschappelijk profile. The federation’s mission is “meer mens, minder patiënt”: it represents people who need care now and in the future, advocates for patient choice and accessibility, influences policy, and brings patient experiences into the consultation room, politics and public debate. As a national umbrella organisation it has 64 members representing over 200 patient organisations and employs about 85 staff. The intended start date for both positions is January 2027. Board members are expected to endorse the federation’s objective, demonstrate demonstrable involvement in patient and citizen interests, possess sufficient professional and managerial strength to exercise independent oversight, and act as a critical sparring partner to the director‑bestuurder.

  • Ensure attention to vulnerable patient groups and the broader patient perspective.
  • For the zorginhoudelijk en medisch‑maatschappelijk member: bring current knowledge of care practice, link quality, accessibility and care strategy, and reflect on prevention, first‑line care, cross‑domain cooperation and the patient of the future.
  • For the publiek‑bestuurlijk en maatschappelijk member: apply knowledge of public governance and experience with complex societal issues, understand stakeholder management in a Hague/VWS context, contribute insights on digitalisation and innovation in care, data exchange, accessibility, positioning and the relationship between national policy and regional implementation.
