Tutor, Title I/ 20 hrs per week/ EOY (26-27 SY)

Under general supervision, performs instructional work with minimal decision-making discretion related to implementing a supplemental instructional program in an elementary or secondary learning environment that guides and encourages students to support and fulfill their academic goals.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to all state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures
• Deliver educational lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning
• Monitor and evaluate student progress to address individual needs
• Provide supervision of students for the purpose of ensuring a safe and positive learning environment
• Perform related duties as assigned

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Equivalent combination of education and experience
• Knowledge and understanding of the principles, practices, and procedures of public-school system policies and technology programs
• Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulatory requirements applicable to the school system
• Ability to maintain professional and emotional control under stress
• Ability to reflect appropriate responses to situations while maintaining a professional and personal demeanor
• Ability to learn and use specialized tools, equipment, or software related to business needs
• Ability to communicate effectively
• Ability to reason, make judgments, and maintain effective working relationships
• Ability to employ positive communication skills in all settings/mediums
• Ability to problem-solve utilizing sound judgment
• Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding school system business
• Ability to work with small groups or one-on-one

Part-time, 9 months

Reports to Principal. The normal place of work is on the premises used by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools reserves the right to require work at other locations as reasonably required.
