Tutor — Science, Academic Coaching & Specialized Support
About the Role
Tutor Doctor Chandler-Gilbert-Ahwatukee is hiring science tutors, academic coaches, and specialized-support tutors for in-home and online tutoring across the East Valley. Positions include physics, chemistry, biology, executive function coaching, special education support, and daytime homeschool tutoring. This role allows you to make a meaningful difference in students' lives without managing the business side of tutoring.
Pay & Compensation
- $20-$35 per hour base pay
- Up to $40 per hour for select students and specialized assignments
- Performance bonuses tied to student satisfaction, reliability, and other performance criteria
- Semi-monthly pay
Flexible scheduling with the ability to choose students whose availability matches yours.

Unlike online-only tutoring platforms, Tutor Doctor tutors are backed by a dedicated local team. We handle client acquisition, billing, family communication, scheduling coordination, and administrative logistics so you can focus on teaching.

Subjects & Specialties
We're hiring for the following areas:
- Science tutors — physics, chemistry, biology, nursing prerequisites
- Academic coaching — organization, study skills, time management
- Special education & neurodivergent student support — patient, individualized instruction
- Daytime homeschool tutoring — flexible daytime availability
Both generalist tutors and subject-matter specialists are encouraged to apply. Certified teachers, education professionals, and college-degree holders in STEM fields are especially welcome. Teaching credentials and experience supporting students with unique learning needs are valuable but not required for every position.
Requirements
- Current college enrollment or a completed college degree
- Background as a teacher, education professional, or subject-matter expert
- Ability to adapt instruction to different learning styles
- Reliability, professionalism, and consistent follow-through
- Reliable transportation for in-home tutoring assignments
- A genuine passion for education and student success
Schedule & Location
Tutoring jobs are available in Chandler, Gilbert, Ahwatukee/South Phoenix, Tempe, Mesa, and other East Valley communities. Both in-home and online/virtual tutoring options are available. Tutors set their own preferred cities, travel radius, subjects, and availability.
